"ZINES ZONDVLOED" @ dijle feesten mechelen

Als laatste halte is er Boekhandel De Zondvloed waar de link tussen Beeldende Kunst en Literatuur onderzocht wordt in de expositie “Zines in de Zondvloed”.
Een zine is een publicatie gemaakt op beperkte oplage door kunstenaars. Het zijn vaak gefotokopieerde magazines, uitgaven op kleine schaal, bol van creativiteit, lak aan afmetingen en zonder enig streven naar winst.
Gastkunstenaar Dzia zal op zaterdagmiddag (14-18h) met behulp van door het publiek aangereikt materiaal ter plaatse een “zine” samenstellen.

Dzia laat al jarenlang zijn sporen na in de Antwerpse straten, onder bruggen, in etalages, magazines en in galeries.
Net als Dzia balanceert ook Frederik Lizen op de grens van streetart en grafische hoogstandjes.

Van 2 juni tot begin september kan je het werk van deze kunstenaars bezichtigen -
op de eerste verdieping van het cultuurcentrum - tijdens de openingsuren.

The Hidden Beauty Street Art Shop is a side event of Step in the Arena, and opens his doors on the 11th of May and closes on the 23th of June. In this shop you can watch / buy art and merchandise from Dutch and international graffiti and street artists. The shop is open on friday from 12.00 till 21.00, on saturday from 10.00 till 17.00 and on the 3th of June from 12.00 tot 17.00. Every saturday there will be live painting in the shop by well-known artists.

!BLOODFIRST! the collaborative world of Dzia and MJ Turpin

!Blood First! PART 1

Welcome to the collaborative world of Dzia and MJ Turpin.
Coming from geographic worlds apart(Johannesburg, South
Africa and Antwerp, Belgium) but both sharing similar origins
and aesthetic conditioning, the creative impetus for this body
of work is based on a shared collective consciousness if you
will, manifesting itself in a fluid, continous and spontaneous
based experiential/experimental process, utilizing both found
and then altered pieces and newly created works of art.

Due to the nature of the collaboration the work revolves
around identity, perception, accountability, denial, origins and
then reflected against contemporary Belgian society viewed
through the eyes of a “foreigner” and a citizen(but created
as one) and the interesting conscious and sub conscious
juxtapositioning and layering that occurs both aesthetically
and through theoretical sub texts.

This all being taken into account the most important aspect
of this show for myself and Dzia is the ability of the viewer
to utilise self reflextivity in interpreting these works, our
meaning is ours and my be seen and shared by others but
our primary goal is self interpretation.

DZIA @ Eastpak Artist Studio "Bread&Butter" Berlin

TODAY, in it’s second edition, Eastpak Artist Studio will present their new collection of limited edition bags at Bread&Butter Berlin. The original designs of 130 artists from 17 countries will be sold at the Eastpak website. All proceeds of the sales of these one-of-a-kind creations will be donated to the Designers Against AIDS (DAA) organization.
